Cunningly contrived to get you into their pubs (again and
again), The Ale Trail is an invention of a local brewery,
King and Barnes . Basically you get a booklet
which list all of the K&B pubs (currently 57), then
you visit each pub where, in return for buying a pint,
the bar staff will stamp and date your book. Having
collected all the stamps you send the book off to the
brewery who then send you a sweatshirt or some other
kind of gift.
The sweatshirts are a bit like karate belts - different
coloured ones depending how many ale trails you've
completed.

Every year the brewery hosts the Ale Trail Party for all
those who have completed at least 3 trails, including
one in the last 3 years. I hope to be there for the
first time in 1998.
